Texas Reflections
Texas Reflections from my visit home..free-verse poem

visit home emotionally draining
facing my many ghosts from the past
longing to find the security
home once offered

disappointment sharply taking place
memories overloading
becoming undistinguished
as forgotten feelings
painfully surface

family members needful but unable to change
others aged and bitter
with hurtful words and traits
barely contained

leaving me wanting to save our world
knowing it's beyond that
diminishing thoughts of returning
while scattering my building goals

changing my life once again
but for better or worse
