My Sun
Poem portraying devotion written during RAW Version 2.0

An inner sun burns
deep within me.
I cannot touch it.
I cannot see it.
I can only feel it,
as it's warmth spreads
through my every cell,
with me always.

My inner sun burns steadily,
demanding your happiness.
My perceptions transmuted,
charged, fused, making your soul
transparent to me,
merging it within my hopes
and dreams, now plural.

My hands, diligent,
gentle and strong,
build a life for many now,
not just one.
My words, patient,
joyful and laughing,
create safety and peace
and rest.
My heart, kind,
unexpecting and hopeful,
smiles and laughs, making
a home.

No hydrogen feeds this inferno.
No helium by-products created,
building only to eventually ignite -
a red giant, consuming, engulfing.
This star burns on your honesty,
your insight, your bravery,
your love,
your anger, your tears,
your wondrous spirit.

Can you see the radiance
permeating my bones
to support you,
strengthening my arms
to hold you,
quickening my feet
to run beside you,
seeping from my very skin,
forming armor, a shield
to come between you
and pain or harm?

Not in the endless dark
was this sun formed,
nor did it evolve within
the pregnant belly of some
vast, nebular expanse.
No, this light, this consuming flame,
was born in the words,
"I give my heart to you."
