Have I grown old? It seems like yesterday
That this grey hair was golden, like the sun, And I was but a laughing girl at play, But now my carefree, childhood days are done. When did this happen? I feel just the same, But in the mirror, who is that I see? So elderly and frail, what is her name? That bent old lady surely can't be me. The years flew fast; the blinking of an eye Has seen me change from comely lass to crone, The strangers in the street just pass me by, And leave me to walk home again alone. Thus will it be for you, so young and strong, As life's keen hoar-frost withers you ere long.
