BOTANY The dandelion's root is very long, and halfway down to China it descends. Its hold upon the earth is very strong, so if your eye the dandelion offends. I pray you think again. This is a lovely flower, not a weed. Sunny bright, and luminous in hue, it spreads itself abundantly in seed. Before we came the dandelions were here, like miniature suns upon the lawn. I think they will not quickly disappear, not even after you and I are gone.
