Hello. I am Anne Bonny. I am one of the dreaded pirates and gasp, yes I am a woman. Let me tell you about myself.

I sailed on the crew of Calico Jack Rackham. He was a pussy cat but a tough pirate that I learned a lot from. My father was an attorney and my mother a maid. We left Ireland in disgrace but father found riches in the Carolinas. He bought a large plantation and I was now a daughter of a rich man.

I met and was fascinated by a pirate named James Bonny. He married me and I thought that he loved me but he wanted my father's plantation. Father disowned me and I grew to hate my worthless husband. He was a pirate but he turned other pirates in for ransom. He was worse then any pirate. Pirates aren't supposed to deceive each other. James was ruthless and he even beat me up. I once sliced his ear with a knife. We lived in the Bahamas.

I met Calico Jack who need how to spend money as well as steal it. He was my knight in shining armour. I loved him. He wanted to buy me from James Bonny but James had Governor Rogers have me flogged for being an adultress. It was most unpleasant but I didn't cry. I was brave. I passed out anyway after the third lash of the whip. Luckily, Calico broke me out of prison that night and we stoled a ship and sailed away. This is when I became a pirate. I later met Mary Read, another female pirate and we became best friends. She had worked in a house of prostitution and dressed up like a man all the time. When the madam came on to her, she decided to become a pirate and I was happy to have another woman around to talk to.

I dressed in men's clothing and carried a pistol and I was as dangerous as any man pirate. Calico, Mary and all the other pirates and I robbed a lot of ship and got our treasures. Alas, our ship was captured and the pirates fought like cowards. They surrendered so easily. I was disillusioned. Anne and I were the only ones who weren't afraid to fight the pompous asses.

Mary, me, Calico and the rest of the pirates were captured. We were sentenced to be hung. Mary and I were both pregnant. Mary died in prison. I am not sure what happened to her but I knew that I would always miss her and love her like I do Calico. Father got me out of prison because he had contacts and I went back home to the Carolinas to have my baby at the Plantation. I was bored but I couldn't leave my son and father had forgiven me. I never saw Calico again. I never asked father but I assumed that he was hung. I took my maiden name back and stayed on the plantation. I later met a young plantation owner and married again. My children love the tales I tell of my life as a pirate. I will always miss Calico Jack, Mary and the pirates.
