Bliss
Within the shade of your branches... under a sky as brilliant as the eyes of a child

I spread myself within the shade of your branches.
Reaching out, my fingers trickle over you
like warm spring rain,
savoring the heartbeat that pounds
under the hardened surface.
Staring up through the dappled
shelter of your leaves
into a sky as brilliant
as the laughing eyes of a child,
I hear your roots beckoning
to me, making promises,
as I float down, vanishing
completely into your embrace.

You move through me,
surrounding me, caressing,
permeating every inch of my flesh.
Your rich, sensuous, courageous presence
overwhelms my senses
with blinding persimmon kisses,
the taste of iron and honey,
the intoxicating brine of your skin.
Moonlight satin fingers
over pussywillow velvet,
slip into the hidden places
that only you will ever know.

Deep within, awakened
by passion, the sun smiles,
blooming magnolia bright,
bursting within my breast, coursing
blood through both our veins.
Newborn roots of implicit trust
spread out, growing, tangling,
enmeshing me within you,
your ground my sustinence,
your sky my home.

With the exploding brilliance of sunlight
and the softest of springtime green,
life erupts towards the heavens,
life that grows tall, strong and lovely.
I spread my branches within the shade
of yours, under a sky as brilliant
as the laughing eyes of a child.
