The Flame of the Almighty
Ever nearer I am drawn Toward the Flame of the Almighty Never does His Flame go out And it will undo me I hasten toward the Flame Ever toward Him who is Holy I cannot look away from His glory Nor can I behold it Ever does it burn my heart and renew my soul So I wander ever closer As I tremble with fear and joy For apart from Him, I can find no rest ** This poem will be published in A Treasury of American Poetry in 2006 **
