The Poetry Workshop
By Doris Ruth Mackey

I bring my poems each week
To present before the group.
My friends all gifted poets,
Each with a special style,
Sit and listen to every verse.
Then each one does suggest
How to make it better.
Take out this word, or put in that
Or remove that line completely.
For their help, I thank each one
Then to my home I go, and there
Carefully decide which change
I'll make or which set aside.
For in the end it is my voice
I want the world to hear.
