Shattered Valentines
Poem about Valentines Day, contest entry

Raging voices dancing inside my head
A scream, that won’t cross my lips
Frozen in Place

My reflection stares back
Face contorted, in confusion
Hurt and Pain. A dream?

Tears stream down her face
In the mirror above our bed
Excited face now pale

Below, legs are tangled
Hair is fanned, Moisture glistens
Enough
She throws her bag at the scene

They turn, looking me
Mascara running
Hair wild
Face bewildered

The spell is broken
The shattered hourglass spilling sand
Stopping the fabric of time
Life as I know it, over
