My Last Christmas
Alone inside Alone outside Alone in a world so dark Seems little matters anymore Friends are no more Loved ones gone forever I’m just a relic of a time long passed I watch the snow fall from my window Catch a glimpse of the joyous faces of others The children smiling through the windows of their loving home Happy And I remember when that was me For me this Christmas I expect little The twinkle lights are fading for me now Soon they will be gone Only the coldness to remain Still I’ll remember the children’s smiling faces And I too will smile Facing death with a joyous heart And a final warm embrace Spare a thought for the elderly this Christmas especially those who are alone, if you can, try and make it a special one for them. Something as simple as a card to wish a Merry Christmas or a simple smile and a wave can make all the difference for one day when you are older you may wish someone to do the same for you.
