Blackened Wings
Devils don't pray

I'll spread my blackened wings
And I'll learn to live without you
I'll keep the lies you told me
In my memory
And I'll bleed black into my chest

I'll learn to live loveless
I'll learn to live again

I won't beg God for answers
Because devils don't pray
I won't choke on this agony
I won't drown in this blackness
I won't waste my tears

And eventually I'll forget
The betrayal
And the pain

Eventually I'll learn to breathe
Each time I hear your name
I won't ache for a gun
For a bullet
For my blood
You don't deserve my tears of red
And I won't cry for you again

I'll spread these blackened wings
And I'll find a way to break this cycle
Because anything
The wind
And the rain
Even the dirt and darkness
Even shadows and dust

Would be better company than you

I will spread these blackened wings
And I will say goodbye
And I won't hurt
And I won't ache

Because I'll have left my heart
In the ashes of your wake
Until these blackened wings
And my empty veins
Can learn to beat
Can learn to live

Without you
