Just Trippin' I don’t believe in love at first sight, But I felt something special when I saw you that night. Your sweet Southern accent as you said ‘hello’; A firm handshake that I didn’t want to let go. The smile as I welcomed you to our place, The dark hair you kept pushing back out of your face. Eyes deep and brown, a laugh soft and clear; My pain at remembering you didn’t live near. Because I’d been hurt by others before, I didn’t say much, and tried listening more. I saw impeccable manners, a sense of respect; So much more than I’d come to expect. A kindness so earnest, a beauty so real, No words could describe how you made me feel. But nine hundred miles is so far away, And before I knew it, here came your last day. I don’t have regrets about what could have been, Because four months will fly, soon I’ll see you again. I believe that in observing I saw your true colors, And I think you’re a treasure, so different from others. It may be wistful thinking, that we are meant to be, But I know I won’t forget the effect you had on me. And no matter where you go from here, no matter what I do, I’m sure my heart forever will be Tripping over you. *This was entered in "BCEC Contest - closed for judging"
