ONLY IN MY DREAMS If I had held on a little longer, and kept the dream of love alive, if I had kept my eyes closed tight, perhaps he might still be here. But I know that dreams don't last, even when we wish them to linger on, and the pain of losing him returns, bittersweet the memories of the night. His lips whispering words of love are stilled; he will not speak again. Only in my dreams he lives once more, erasing the pain, making new promises. I saw him stumble into darkness, and I begged him not to drive away. Words spoken in anger made him turn to another, the guilt is on my soul. If I had held on a little longer, and kept the dream of love alive, if I had kept my eyes closed tight, but now only the dream lives on. Countrymom 2/25/06
