In Your Absence
Feb. 25 / 2005 Colours forget their radiance, fading into shades of black and grey as dismal apparitions of things they used to be in your absence. Perfect darkness overcomes the light that shone to guide my way; the candle snuffed, I stumble blindly against the dark. A brighter day slips away from me in your absence. My footsteps falter, unsure where I'm going, where I've been; uncertain whether deadly shadows growl around the next corner in this labyrinth. I'm falling away from myself in your absence. Stillness falls to rust and ruin; nothing spoken, nothing heard. Without the warm tones of your voice to stave the frosted silence, the cold wraps itself around my heart in your absence.
