An Anniversary Poem ![]() Forty nine years ago We stood hand in hand Pledging our love Before God and man You were so happy To have me for your wife I was so pleased to Take your name for life Both of us were young Still in our teens Filled with such hope Full of so many dreams Together we'd travel On roads that were gold Our love and devotion Would never grow cold But just like so many From the years of old Our life wasn't paved With streets of gold We had many battles Shed buckets of tears Faced each new obstacle In the forty-nine years Yet the vows we pledged Bonded us together like glue Our commitment to God Helped us make it through Happy 49th Anniversary This poem was written a few years ago on our 45th Anniversary.I have changed the dates in it to our current year . Next year I will write a new poem for our 50th.
