Nature's Vengeance
A forest fire
Rated:

Avg Rating: (21)
Angry red splashes through the sky.
Screaming, shrieking birds fly by.
Howling of forest creatures told
of nature's vengeance, what would unfold.

Tongues of flames licked through the trees,
their fiery glow fanned by the breeze.
Sounds of crackling bark ring out
as fiery monstrous flames move south.

Mother Nature’s creatures flee
the carnage, that awaits with glee.
Some are heading for the stream,
safe at last, so it would seem.

To the stream, those who reach it first
pause as they have to quench their thirst.
But not a moment can they spare,
the fiery monster’s almost there.

They turn and see the flames rise high.
They choke on smoke, can’t see the sky.
The young stay by their parent’s side.
Where can they go?, Nowhere to hide!

And now what I look upon today
is not of greens, but black and grey.
The carcass of the forest lies
bereft of life, just mournful sighs.

But one day it will rise once more.
Fresh buds will spring up from the floor.
A colour splash of luscious green,
forest creatures once more be seen.
