Left Behind

I went to bed on solid ground
Letting my mind float easily
I woke surrounded by a hollowed darkness
Unsure of myself and all around me
The sun had fallen from the sky
And I was all alone
Everyone had moved in the night
They must have forgotten to wake me

I’ve been left sitting on a cold and deserted island
Lost and frightened
I cried out for an answer
My only reply - an empty stare
Looking up from the darkened water
I couldn’t understand this person
This small and weak creature
Seeing how pathetic she looked
My heart ached for her

I found myself wanting to cuddle her
as if she were nothing more than a child
She looked at me questioningly
Waiting for me
I reached my hand out to her
But she had vanished
Once again lost inside my mind
My relentless dream
