Crystal Lamont was an orphan. She was left in an basket at a Work House in France. The workers raised her and she was forced to work there until she was fifteen. She had enough food to eat and something to wear. She hated her life but she hoped for a better life someday. One day, a man Pierre Rosemont came to the Work house to hire girls to work at the castle. Crystal was a hard worker and she was hired by Pierre. Imagine her surprise when she was able to serve at dinner parties and balls. There was material that Queen Marie Antionette had discarded and Crystal made nice dresses for the servant girls and herself. Crystal realized that she had a talent for this. At the Work House, she had to scrub floors and do dishes. It was hard work and she had hated it. Working at the castle and serving food at the Queen's dinner parties was great. She remembered when she first saw the Queen. The beautiful blonde woman wearing fancy dresses and pearls, bluec sapphires, emeralds and rubies. Course she didn't wear them all at once. She had a dress of every color and accessories to match. Crystal admired her so much and once the Queen gave her a smile and thanked her for serving her, her food. Crystal bowed and the Queen told her she didn't have to bow.
A few weeks later, a servant girl had let the Queen's poodles out by accident and they were jumping on the table and eating the guests' food. The Queen couldn't control them. Crystal went over to the poodles and petted them. They licked Crystal's face. "You have been bad poodles. The Queen loves you and you are well fed. You should tell your Mistress that you are sorry." The poodles whined and rolled over. Crystal didn't notice how quiet the room had become. "Young lady. Come here." Crystal left the poodles and walked to the Queen. She bowed. "Your Highness." "What is your name, child?" "Crystal Lamont, your Highness." "Where did you get the dress you are wearing?" "I made it out of discarded material you left the servants. I hope that is alright." Crystal was so nervous. The dress was a pretty blue dress that fit nicely. "I see. Can you design and make fancy dresses?" The Queen asked. "Yes, I think I can, your Highness." "I want you to design and make dresses for me. I see that you are good with my poodles, so I am making you my personal maid. Do you accept my offer?" Queen Marie Antionette asked. "Yes, your Higness. Thank you so much." Crystal bowed. If this doesn't work out, you will go back to serving dinner parties and cooking." The Queen ate some cake. "I understand, your Highness." Crystal moved into the apartments next to the Queen. She designed and made beautiful dresses for the Queen. She even made pretty dresses for the Queen's insane doll collection. The Queen gave her a poodle of her own. Crystal was invited to all the balls and she met a Navy Officer. Captain Devoe Richmond who she became friends with and they became a couple later. Crystal didn't want to get marry. Crystal made cupcakes for the Queen. "You are so talented. How did you learn to make clothes and cook?" "At the Work House. If you want to survive there, you have to learn to do a lot of things." "Just remember, my Dear. You don't have to cook or bake or bake for me. I just want to make you dresses and if it gets to be too much, I will cut back on your work load. You are the only one I can trust and you are more then a dress maker to me. You are my best friend and I love you." Marie Antionette hugged Crystal. "I love you, too, my Maria." Crystal felt so happy. Rumors of a Revolution were circulating and bad gossip was being spoken against the Queen. Crystal shutterd. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO FRANCE AND HER BELOVED QUEEN? Crystal was with the Queenh when soldiers and guards marched in and accused the Queen of treason. They put her in chains and Crystal slapped at the guards and soldiers and they roughly pushed her down on the floor. She cried. She hugged the Queen and Marie told her to watch after her dogs and her children. "I love you, Crystal." "I love you, too, my Maria, my Queen and my best friend." Marie Antionette and her children were taken to the dungeon. Crystal feared for her safety and her Queen's. Months passed and one day, Crystal was called into court. The judge told Crystal there were no charges against her but6 she moving out of the castle to a house across town that was nice and she could make a living as a dress maker. She could take thye dresses she made, the dogs and the Queen wanted her to have her doll collection. Crystal was lucky that charges hadn't been bought against her. "Any questions?" the judge asked. "May I see the Queen?" asked Crystal in pleading voice. "You may at a later date." the judge answered. A year later, some soldiers came to Crystal's house and told her she was going to be allowed to see the Queen. The Queen was going to be beheaded in a couple of days and they laughed. Crystal gasped and fought back tears. Crystal was taken to a room in the dungeon and the soldiers escorted Marie Antionette quite roughtly into the room. Marie looked pale, her hair was dirty and you couldn't tell that it had been blonde and she had lost a lot of weight. Her red velvet dress that she had worn the day she was arrested looked faded and hung all over the Queen. It was a beautifulm dress when Crystal had first made it for her. Crystal cried and hugged Maria. "It is alright. My children won't be executed. You have been my best friend and I love you. I heard there were no chardes against you. I hear your dress making business is doing great." "I owe it all to you. I miss you and love you." "I love you, too.l You need to marry Devoe. He loves you, you know. My marriage was a disaster and you will have a better life then me. Being a Queen isn't everything. I would trade lives with you in a heart beat. How are my dogs?" "They are fine and miss you. I wish we could go back to things as they were. I have no other friends." "My Dear, make new friends. I will be with you in spirit. Don't cry. I have always loved you and please think about what I said about Devoe." "I will. Isn't there some way to get your sentence changed?" "No. My fate has been sealed. You will have a good life. Promise me that you will marry Devoe. I want to die knowing that you will be happy. Always remember me and I will be with you." A guard came in and told them that time was up. Crystal hugged her Queen and her friend Good Bye. "I love you, my Queen and friend. I promise I will marry Devoe if he asks. I love him. You made me realize that." That is the last time Crystal saw her friend. Crystal made a purple dress that the Queen was beheaded in. She married Devoe and kept designing dresses. She had a daughter and named her Maria Antionette in honor of her friend. She kept Marie in her thoughts all her life and she was happy with herv husband Devoe. Marie Antionette. Crystal was thankful for her Queen and her friend. She knew Marie was with her everyday. Friendships live forever in our hearts. ![]() ![]()
