The Woeful Snowman In my garden I have made A wonderful Snowman with my spade A stripy scarf around his neck A floppy hat upon his head Stones for eyes, a carrot nose And gram's old broomstick by his toes *** Then one day a dog named Greg Chomped at Snowman’s chunky leg ‘Leave me alone,’ the Snowman cried Now he is leaning to one side I prop him up with extra snow T'was not the end I fear, oh no! *** Coz one morn’ the wind had blown Snowie’s hat away had flown Now his head is oh so bald Guess he must be feeling cold I dig the hat out from the dirt His misfortunes to revert *** On Saturday, the sun came out I realised with a sulking pout The Spring-time I was longing for Would melt my Snowie to his core I study him and wonder where He’ll go to when the ground is bare *** The drip-drip sound from melting snow To Snowie just another woe His face has lost its features now Carrot is aligned with brow The hat, all soggy, on the ground Where he once stood, a sorry mound *** T’is not the end of Snowie’s tale If he could, I’m sure he’d wail A rabbit hopped, then sniffed at him Discarded floppy hat with rim A juicy carrot he found there Ate it quickly, such despair! *** My Snowman is forever gone Daisies growing in my lawn I knew that he would disappear This is it, for another year Springtime now I shall enjoy And find myself another toy ![]()
