answering machine intermezzi
mechanical words the cells of phones crowded with messages my body cries out for the reality of your eyes when I tell you of my happiness so I invent a song which will temporize my ferver fill in the gaps before a truer declaration of love, of admiration, of thanks with a voice somewhat recognizable tinted with just enough emotion to make you sorry that the bell was unplugged and you missed whatever it was in the spontaneous moment of my desire to share which was swept away by technology so sophisticated that love affairs, friendships, family hellos pass irrevocably through a call-me-back-later thing known as the machine that answers instead of your lovely voice, your kind words your presence so needed... instead of a voice... 14 september, 2004
