family chaos
schedules were complicated before but now it's a civil war explosions happen to the best of families ours got hit with the divorce disaster bomb! they call them "recomposed families" nowadays papa moves out in a storm boxes everywhere a new town for a year, taking the trains and going to the country mama finds new house she gets a job with longer hours, never home school changes, I liked the old neighborhood, a lifetime of stablity two birthdays two Christmases losing track of where my favorite jeans are homework easier in my old room, but it's gone too papa finds a boyfriend, a girlfriend, either way it's different they move back to the city, a new apartment, bigger, but not better mama gets married again, a new daddy, but I'll call him Mark they find a house in a close-by town he's not bad, but he's not papa papa calls mama on the phone before every weekend they don't fight, they even laugh why didn't they stay together and fight the chaos friends have parents hating each other some say we're lucky to have two of everything (do I have to tell them I have three daddies?!?!?!) I don't know yet it's complicated in my head, always changing cars, beds, smiles, I've never had so many pyjamas! it would have been better to have just one of everything but then I've got family chaos and that gives me something special I guess it's nice to have extra love makes up for a bit of heartbreak, because we should have been just five and now there are seven of us, and mama's going to have number eight family crowds don't go well with chaos I prefer "family calm us". family chaos 23 september, 2004
