a prayer for eternal peace
welcome, soothing weary of the unending fight for tranquility so desired gentle summer rain cleansing, renewing I imagine my silent steps floating towards a light I have never seen psalmodic drums beat calmly in the distance perfect fifths accompany my growing exhaustion their hypnotic drone eases my fears leading me forward, towards a life I poorly imagine far away a lone songbird chants quietly rejoicing in life at last I hear your gentle voice long forgotten yet instantly remembered reminding me of a discordant past promising a future in harmonious serenity eternal peace 8 july, 2004
