he cannot hear the mist of those friends
left behind, even their tender pleading never-resting summer leads time amiss yet grief sprung open takes unsure flight around the sloping hills of the past and future where nothing remains stable in the mudslide no rigid memories mark the futile deception of today's lack why does the strength of windy autumn pleasures annoy the sweet substance of his memory what remembrance has converted contorted tears emotion better unfit for the daily countenance of dimwitted normalness we hailed our hero's wedding-guest party let them circle gaily for this last waltz the future is ended before the celebration for comes suddenly the ice between hell and our frozen tears a gift for the presence none remember fondly pity the world else this be his fond tomb filled of his bereft beauty where abundance of his love lies quietly alas! misguided in life at last, herald the gaudy spring hear the three-beat music sadly accompanied by a single image that dies leisurely photos of the mind henceforth the mist of friends 1-17 january, 2006
