The Heaven of You
In each dream that I dream it’s all over All the pain that I feel left behind But the truth in each lie’s just a token Of a heart lost which I’ll never find In your eyes I saw both our futures Reflecting love I hoped could never die Though in the darkness I knew that I’d always lose you Drowning in the tears that I cry With the sun rose the day I’d been fearing For I knew as you held me by the hand That the dream of my world was all over A cruel blow I could never withstand You told me that one day I’d be happy Someone else would come and take your place But still to this day I live with the dismay Of paths travelled I’ll never retrace So tonight as I lie here alone now Thoughts of us now apart kill my mind You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be Still that’s a place I know I’ll never find If you enjoyed this poem and would like to read more of my work I currently have two books available that can be obtained through the links below.
