sun and moon
A sestina form inspired by our two light giving spheres

time again we gaze upwards at a disk of white
mysterious beauty, at night, spotlighting the stars
gentle rays, reading by its fullness is true pleasure
though at noon harshness glares and fiction wanes
more a time to frolic and sway, content to be alive
yet both white and yellow spheres we hold in our hearts

magical moments of sunrise brings passion to every heart
wonderful sweet moonlight, how does it glow, being so white?
both spheres travel the horizon, showing how they too are alive
eternal motion of the heavens, planets swirling, even the stars
though they seem motionless, their light never wanes
reading by their rays, day or nighttime games, light for our pleasure

late afternoon comes a time of pink oranges, bright turning pastel pleasure
sunsets for the young and old, those learning to share their hearts
after daytime yellow illuminating daily activities, nothing wanes
motion draws to an end, changes, mellows, with the coming rays of white
then a sudden midnight hustle and bustle, trying to count a million stars
we gaze upwards, for every shooting star our hearts know we are alive

sunlight brings new growth to the earth, everything thus is alive
white snowy mountains, blue sky, a postcard for our pleasure
bold golden glow, sunflowers point upwards, later happy to find the stars
meanwhile children grow strong, content are their hearts
they prefer afternoon sunlit fun, sleeping when the light turns white
parents find calm in evening bliss, letting daytime energies wane

nighttime's restful sleep, the sphere follows the horizon, it too will wane
red orange morning horizon, its beauty reminds us we are alive
brilliant rainbow colors replace nighttime of black and white
nature's coloring books, her ready made stories for daily pleasure
remember that without the sun and the moon, nothing touches our heart
we are made from the dreams and wishes made upon the stars

there are millions of people, one for each of the millions of stars
our hearts never waver, belief in the day and night can never wane
this reassuring goodness we all know deep in our hearts
time for living, time for loving, time to dream, time to be alive
at noon the golden sunlight shines on our daytime pleasures
at night, our dreams are bathed in the purity of white

imagine that they are not always white, think of multicolored stars!
childlike pleasure, coloring white for yellow, innocent joy never wanes
a simple game to stay alive, sun and moon light the depths of our hearts
