My belly once swelled with the essence of you.
I used to drink it down like sweet wine and ale. At night, before I slept, I imagined your force, Coaxing sugared violet and blue dreams my way. This morning I bled my abdomen, And let your essence flow out of me, like rain. Then I scooped up that blood-stained water of yours, And into the black earth, released it. Your soul, which once fed me; gave birth to my life, Had fermented into arsenic, and slayed me. And as my breath shivered, I called out to you. But your acidic tongue replied with nothing. So now I lay crumpled and beaten, Because I banished your poisoned wine from me. God, let my eroding body turn to dust. I'd rather my life not be rotted.
