Cries of the Wolf
For Take My Phrase: prompt is - cries of the wolf

Gentle whisper of the wind
Calming song of the night
Drifting among the weeds
The empty light of the prairie

Stars fill the sky
Sparkling in their death
An ancient mystery never solved
Realized only in the end

Solitary, the wolf cries
Echoing across the land
Scorned from the pack
Drifting, empty and alone

Abandoned and lost
No where to call home
Walking upon the edge
Between life and death

Calls of the wild
Echo across the land
Strong conversations between
Animals of Nature’s design

Sudden silence is death
The calling card of doom
All will have run away
Only the fast can escape

There is no real escape
An end being inevitable
As is woven throughout
Nature’s own tapestry

Death humbles all
Everyone falls in the end
For now I stand here and listen
To the cries of the wolf
