SLOWLY FADE AWAY When old soldier's time is past, They leave behind a story, Of service rendered country, It’s always one of glory. 'Cause if they served in peacetime, They sure had no way to know, If a war would start somewhere, And they might just have to go. Too many had to take that road, That would lead them off to war, Was a long road home for some, With thier mind and body tore. But they all served with honor, Standing oh so straight and tall, To preserve mans liberty, Believing freedom for all. A time will come when soldiers, Of the past and present day, Will take the hand of their God, And then slowly fade away. Monty Poem written in 7 syllable abcb scheme.
