Standing Your Ground

I shot the sheriff
and the deputy
but I'm talking
metaphorically.

I stood up against
their authority
when they tried
to push me too hard
and push me too far.

I refuse to flee
and I'll stand my ground,
I won't let them,
run me down
waste my life, my energy.

I'm stronger than
they seem to be,
this false power,
this violent hierarchy
will never stop me.
