Victory
A short story about a warrior.

Avg Rating: (7)

The warrior returned a day early, dragon's head on his worn shoulder, bloody blade in hand, look of repentant suffering across face. Victory. At what cost? Earthly beast laid dead, body soaked with darkest blood, foulest scavengers, and moon’s coldest light.

He walked slow, this combatant so spirited, staggering tired from sleepless nights. Now weariness befriended him. Muscles ached, eyes yearned to close, mind wanted rest. Relax one can not after such challenge. Adrenaline, hunger, rushed through veins.

Villagers gathered as vanquisher placed mighty skull upon town center. Children gasped, old men smiled, young women cheered. Mournful champion became legend.
