Hands Quieted
For Lover's Leap: Dead Friendship, a deaf friend leaves during childhood

So few years spent together
Childhood friends not wanting to part
My journey defined by yours
And yours by mine
We couldn’t hold on for long
Everything quickly became lost

The small details were gone
No longer defying language
My hands were to be quiet
As rain fell, it washed away
The memories, even the pain

For years, I was haunted
Wanting to remember
The girl who once shared
Our story, our lives
But like life itself
She has faded away

I no longer can sign
My voice will be
The only communication
For others to understand
A past that is almost completely
Forgotten
