The Anemone

A bold red
Anemone
Surveyed alone the field
Around it.
From dawn to dusk it displayed complete contentment
But inside it craved for affection.

A myriad of
Cyclamens
With brown arched stalks
Surrounded it.
The tall anemone mounted above those wretched flowers,
Unworthy for an anemone like this.

Also were some
Pansies
Spread across the field
Grouping together.
The anemone knew they were unattainable, waiving instantly,
Filled with ire upon their ignorance.

The days grew
Hotter
And the sun blazed –
Summer arrived.
Alas the bold red anemone dried and wilted
Resembling a thistle on the ground.

As the sun
Abated
Sea squills grew tall
With glory.
And they saw a thistle on the ground
Staring from beneath, craving for affection.
