Grover Our beloved dog Grover was something of a clown and his antics provided the occasional howls of laughter at our house. One such moment involved a bag of Hershey's Kisses. Grover enjoyed his own chair and it sat in the dining room just below a pass-through window to the kitchen. On the kitchen side of that window was a counter where I frequently laid down my keys, purse, and other items when I came home. One particular day I had purchased a bag of Hershey's Kisses, the kind wrapped in shiny aluminum foil. The bag was unopened; I casually placed it on that counter and went about my business. The next morning, I noticed the bag had disappeared and assumed that my husband, Tony, had taken it to his recliner so he could munch on the Kisses. I mentioned it later that day, and Tony gave me one of those blank, "I don't know what you're talking about" looks. I checked into the matter a bit further. I found the completely empty Kisses bag. . .in Grover's chair. He apparently thought that they had been left for him. He looked at me with cheerful satisfaction. Every kiss was gone-completely gone! Aluminum wrappers and all had vanished, no crumbs, no mess, slick and clean. He was clearly proud of his work. I know that chocolate in its bitter form can be fatal to dogs when ingested, but he didn't seem to suffer any ill effects at all. I still laugh aloud, when I remember his output the following day. It came packaged in shiny foil in the shape of a big Hershey's Kiss, complete with a paper strip!
