As a Meerkat I must say
Being in the middle Is quite a drag But on the bottom of The food chain Is even worse On top of both Food and status Is the lion All regal and dominant He doesn’t fear That something might eat him Walks around the open Head held high All day long, reigning Over the land Then there is An animal both low And high The hyena He laughs Life is just a game Eating anything in sight But lacking status And intelligence Still above me he stands Ready to eat me in one glance So here I am Wondering how to survive Dreaming of a day That someone like me Will reign King of the Savannah Me, a simple Meerkat
