Nobody’s perfect; everyone makes mistakes. But not everyone learns from them. Be the one that learns.

Always forgive others, no matter what they have done to you. Grudges are heavy burdens to carry, but it takes even more strength to let bygones be bygones.

Follow your heart, not the crowd. Do things because you want to do them. Don’t give into peer pressure. It’s a lot harder to say no, but saying yes can ruin your life.

Be yourself. People waste too much time trying to be someone they’re not. It’s better to be disliked for you are than loved for who you’re not.

Stand up for what you believe in. Remember that you don’t have to be loud to be heard. Those who cannot hear will see your actions.

Have faith in yourself – God does. Believe in your dreams, and know that anything is possible with faith, hope, and imagination.

Don’t go through life trying to please everyone. You can’t do it. There is always going to be someone that won’t be satisfied by the kindest person in the world.

Help others. Sometimes people are too proud to ask for help, even if they really need it. Be the one who helps quietly and asks for nothing in return.

Smile often, laugh a lot. Smile at your fears, laugh at yourself. There isn’t anything that can’t be made better with a smile or a laugh. They are like band-aids for your heart. Learn how to smile and laugh during the bad times as well as the good. It makes dark days that much brighter.

Never give up or give in. God doesn’t give up on you, so you shouldn’t either. Give your goal, dream, or hobby all that you have, and don’t stop until you’ve reached the end of the road.

This is one of my favorite pieces of writing - it's like my 'Teen' Commandments. A copy hangs above my bed, and I read them every monring when I wake up and every night before I go to bed. I urge any teens that find this helpful to print this out and do the same.

Let me know if it provides you with any inspiration! These simple 10 steps are my guide to being happy and carefree every day, no matter what disabilities I must deal with, problems I must face, or obstacles I have to overcome. I hope it will do the same for you!
