a photograph
for someone who believes in me; in honor of her talent

enchanted strolling, hand in hand
over endless lofty hills
around the mysterious forests of tomorrow
under bridges, trickling brook below
through lover's lane, reinvented today

         field mice run freely
         how to tell their tale?
while it's true that they wander under the desk
         their observations might leave me
         unaware
         seeing two faces
         theirs innocent, laughing
         mine searching for an afterwards
a thousand ways to say farewell
to the alabama so deeply scarred
now a haven for those same mice

         hope is not infecting
         today its inflections are sour
I despair the untimely discovery of her poisoned pen
everyone else here is so perfect
                   why not me? she wrote
                   sarcasm become so typical
         why won't she understand?
my eyes only see an angel when I gaze on her
         she is evermore my child…
         invisible to each other
slipping on the flawless ice sculpture
of the cold chasm between us

hold my hand
let me love you forever!
tell me that there is hope for the ills
which would overwhelm our love…
can you take a photo of this moment
its perfection captured against my rusting memory
so that I will always remember
the day I forgot my pain?
