Three Little Piglets

Once a long time ago, there lived three little piglets — Gordon, Ralph and Peter. They lived in a quiet little neighborhood with a few homes and a store.

One day as the three piglets were out playing, Ralph said, "I want a Popsicle, let's go to the store and get one."

"No,"
said Gordon,
"We can't go to the store by ourselves."

"Go ask Mom to take us to the store," said Ralph.

So Peter ran in the house and asked their Mother if she could take them to the store.

"Not now," his Mother replied, "I've got a pie in the oven. We'll go a little later."

Peter ran out and told his bothers that mother had a pie in the oven and that she would take them in a little while.

"Well, I want my Popsicle now, so let's go, it's only down the road and we will be okay if we walk on the sidewalk."

"I don't think we should,"
said Peter, "Mommy will be here as soon as she takes the pie out of the oven."

"I'm going now," said Ralph, "Are you coming with me?"

"Oh, alright,"
said Gordon, "come on Peter."

"I don't think we should go, " he whined.

" Come on, it's just down the road," yelled Ralph.

"Why don't we wait for Mom?"

"Come on Gordon, let’s you and I go and leave Peter home," Ralph said a little impatiently.

"Oh all right, I'll go too,"
Peter sighed.

Leaving the yard they walked single file down the narrow sidewalk. They passed Mr. Bank's house. "Good afternoon," he shouted, "where are you three off to?"

"We're going for a Popsicle"
Gordon replied.

"Where is your Mommy? Does she know you are going to the store?"
inquired Mr. Banks.

Peter told him that their Mommy was baking a pie and that Gordon and Ralph didn't want to wait.

"Well, be careful," said Mr. Banks.

The three pigs kept on walking. They passed the empty field. The store was just ahead.

"See," said Ralph, "nothing to it, we're at the store and will be home before Mommy knows we're missing."

Gordon bought a blue} Popsicle; Ralph bought a green one, while Peter settled on a pink one. Saying their good byes to the storekeeper they started to make their way home. Gordon was leading and Peter was in the middle with Ralph marching behind.

"You know," said Peter, "this wasn't a bad idea after all."

Just as they reached the edge of the field out jumped a big wolf. "Where are you piglets off to?" he asked.

"Home! We live in the barn behind that blue house," said Ralph pointing in the direction of the home.

"Well I don't think I can let you go,"
growled the wolf."I'm very hot and hungry! I think I have to have your Popsicle's," he said as he reached out to take Gordon’s.

"You’re not having mine!"
yelled Gordon.

"Leave us alone! We're going home,"
whailed Ralph as they tried to walk pass the wolf. The wolf stood in front of them and he wouldn't let them through.

"Popsicles might make me in a better mood, so give me your Popsicles or I might need to eat three little piglets."

Ralph was so afraid he said, "Here, take mine, please just let us go home."

"No,"
said the wolf, " I think I want a big blue one and a pink one too."

I want my Mommy," whimpered Peter, "Why did we go?"

"Please, "
said Gordon,” you can have our Popsicles if you will only let us go home."

"Aaahaa,"
jeered the wolf, " will you go to the store tomorrow?"

"No! We promise", they said in unison. "Let us go home!"

Then the wolf reached up behind his head and took off his mask!

"Mr. Banks!"
they laughed. "We thought you were really a bad wolf and we were so afraid."

"Well, you're lucky it's me,"
Mr. Banks replied gruffly. "When you leave the yard without your Mommy, you never know who you'll meet. "Now! You piglets run on home and don't let me catch you out of the yard by yourselves again! You never know who you may meet and they might not be as nice as your ol' friend, Mr. Banks!"
