The Confederacy's Chancellorsville
Jessica Marie

Chancellorsville was a vict'ry indeed,
Yet for General Jackson death was in reach.
Hooker's troops were duped and did not succeed,
While Stonewall was in flowered peach.
Stoneman was thought to have cut the supply lines,
And Hooker thought the Confederacy would retreat.
But Stuart stopped the Union men from spying them through the pines,
German soldiers in the Union flank were spared a treat.
Jackson surprised them, bringing troops downwind:
When night fell and only moon lit the sky,
The Second Confederate Corp was thinned.
Despite Hooker's lack of nerve, battle he did try.
Lee and Jackson's forces reunited the next day:
The battle's luck was an amazing pay.
