WORKDAY Russell woke with a start and looked at the clock. Almost seven! Why didn't anybody wake him up? He couldn't be late! Mr Moreland just entrusted him with the keys so he could get there early and let the others in. The house was quiet. Dad and Mom must have gone to work but why didn't they wake him? He must have forgotten to set the alarm. He felt crummy going to work without a shower but there was no help for it he didn't want everybody standing outside waiting for him to come with the keys! He pulled into the parking lot. Good nobody here yet. He made it. He unlocked the door and punched the clock and started turning on lights and unlocking the tool cabinets. He went into the supply room and got out materials for the day's work. Funny, nobody here yet? Are they all late today but me? He started working and kind of got into it then all at once looked at the clock. It was almost nine! Nobody had showed up yet? That can't be right. A couple of the guys run late sometimes but they would all be here by now. Nobody had called in. Car trouble? All eight of them? Nine and still nobody there. It was gettimg creepy. A practical joke? No, Mr Moreland didn't see anything funny about his business. The others might but he wouldn't. Mr Moreland's office was still locked. He wasn't there either. Then Russell heard a sound and took a moment to realize what it was. He had made a mistake. A mistake he would not live down in a hurry! The church bells were a giveaway. Under his breath he said, "Oh crap, it's Sunday."
