I'll Get to It
Giving up bad habits

When I think of all the things to do today,
I’m saddened with how long the list has grown now;
There seems no end to bad acts that crease my brow.
I asterisk “don’t procrastinate” and pray
That at long, long last I may have found a way
To eat well, be smoke free, and renew my vow
To stop procrastination—and disallow
My penchant for easily going astray.
I will wash all the dishes, floors, even walls.
I will not stop for breaks to breathe nicotine,
Even if it causes me physical ache.
But without willpower the loser soon falls;
I only wash dishes and call the room clean.
I’ll get to the list after one more smoke break.

style: Italian Sonnet
rhyme scheme is abbaabbacdecde (or the cdecde can be cdcdcd). It can be 10 syllables in every line or 11 syllables in every line. I went with 11.
