Angela woke early that morning, feeling a little under the weather. Her stomach felt like it was full of butterflies and she could feel a headache coming on.

If I eat something, I'll feel better, she told herself as she headed downstairs to the kitchen.

Looking through the cupboards, nothing appealed to her. Finally, she decided to make herself a piece of toast. She thought maybe that would settle her stomach. She popped the bread into the toaster and looked through the fridge for something to drink.

What on earth is that godawful smell? She turned and saw smoke pouring out of her brand new toaster.

"No!!" She tried to pull the lever up, but it wouldn't budge. The smoke alarm began to wail. "Crap crap crap!" Without thinking, she stuck her finger in, trying to wiggle the toast loose. "Ow!" Yanking her finger back, she saw she had burned it badly. She quickly looked through the cupboards until she found a bandage.

After applying it to her aching finger, she unplugged the toaster, right before it caught fire.

"This is not my day," she grumbled. Sitting down at the table, she picked up yesterday's mail and looked through it. A small piece of paper fell out from between two envelopes.

It was a fortune from a fortune cookie. It must have gotten stuck to one of the envelopes. She read it, curiously:
Those who play with fire shall surely get burned.

Angela groaned. "I'm going back to bed!"
