"Excuse me, you're in my seat."
"Oh, I'm so sorry." Catherine moved over to the window seat to allow the young man to sit down.
"I'm John," he held his hand out.
"Catherine," she shook his hand, politely. He's pretty cute, she thought with a smile.

"I'm from Minnesota. This will be my first time in California."
"I'm from Minnesota, too!" Catherine exclaimed. "I was here in Vegas for a writer's convention."
"You're kidding! Me too! What part of Minnesota are you from?"
"Winona."
"Holy crap. I can't believe we've never met before. That's where I live."

They stared at each other in awe. This surely was fate.

"Single?"
"Yes, you?" Catherine couldn't believe she was flirting with a complete stranger on a plane.
"Yes, I am. My last relationship didn't work out very well. She was too demanding, possessive."
"I can't believe how much we have in common!"

As the plane taxied into LAX, they made plans to meet up for dinner that evening.

When they got off the plane in Los Angeles, there were uniformed police officers there to greet them.

"Catherine Albertson?" one of them accosted her.
"Yes? What is this?"
"You're under arrest for the murder of James Longwell."
"I didn't kill him, I left him! I want a lawyer!" she protested, angrily. Then, watched with shock as another cop grabbed her new friend.

"John Richards?"
"I didn't do anything, let go of me!"
"You're under arrest for the murder of your ex-girlfriend, Camilla Lewis."
