Rebel Without a Cause February 8th, 1931 - September 30th, 1955 February 8th, 1931 And there's a baby crying Just another red-faced baby boy Born in the state of Indiana It's just another day Unless you're James Dean They say his middle name Came from the poet Lord Byron And that he played the violin And was a poet in himself But no one really knew that Except for James Dean It's somewhere in 1955 And he's the rebel without a cause Holding hands with Natalie Wood Screaming, "You're tearing me apart!" And every girl in town Was in love with James Dean He's the one on East of Eden He's the Giant with a 356 Porsche Speedster A cowboy sitting next to Liz Taylor Telling Charles Coburn "Hey Gramps, I'll have a chocolate malt" But hey, that's James Dean September 17th, 1955 And he's on the television A commercial spot, only 30 seconds "Slow down," he says "The life you save might be mine" He's that baby-faced boy, James Dean September 30th, 1955 And he's no longer crying But his Porsche 550 Spyder is And so's the driver of a ford sedan It was just another day Unless you're James Dean
