![]() Geranium Mine! I saw you on a country market stall, Full red and blowzy, urging me to buy. A few small coins were all I had in all, I proffered them, with heartfelt, wistful sigh. I had to make you mine, and take away Your crimson beauty for my garden plot. To watch you grow, in flaming bright display, And fill my days with colour, glowing hot. Your foliage was lush and shone with health, With eager shoots and bursting buds galore. You promised Summer joys beyond all wealth, And happy days that surely lay in store. My heart rejoices as I see you still, In pride of place, outside my window-sill.
