When Darkness falls

As darkness falls, I cry
in a world, where I alone stand.
My words, my pain, my life
Tell me, was all of this planned?

Where have you gone life?
No longer do I feel your breath.
The wind's whispered lies
are leading me into death.

The smiles have faded away
how I miss them so.
To always be loved by hate
is a sin my soul did sow.

I would ask where I went wrong?
but I think it matters no more.
The past is reason enough;
My memory's bloodstained decor.

The cards were dealt with sorrow,
in a young girl's hand they fell.
The secrets, the lies, the anger
if you knew them, would you tell?

I take the blame for it all.
What I did and didn't do.
The cards slipped from my hand.
Too late to start anew.

As darkness falls once again,
I feel my time has expired.
There's no point in living on
when your soul has long retired.
