Descending down steps, bare feet touch ceramic at bottom, chuckle noticing tile not cold like usual.
Family gathers here in great room. Four daughters play timidly together near toys. My folks are being typical grandparents, watching closely over their grandchildren.
Wonderful wife appears so somber today.
“Feeling alright?”
Silence, why does she refuse to look toward me? Everyone’s mouth moves, but no words. Glancing about, realizing all wear black.
Gazing within mirror above couch, reflection missing…
The surrounding walls begin enclosing, fear starts enveloping.
“They will join you someday,” a calming, beautiful voice says from behind.
Turning around, eyes see…
