the freedom to create

I am NOT an orphabilly,
you must uncover the cobwebs
in my vast archives
for I would have dimelled
yes, thousands, indeed, me too
to understand
that my freedom
has quintupled

here, somewhere in virtual
never-never land
where faces are strange
"noms de plume"
is a reality rivaling chocolate
called writing dot com
and scores of wonderful dreamlike creations
are composed and sounded hourly

but I'm not a driploof either
believing in magic potions
like remembering, response, reality,
I journey into words several hours a day
imagining even more personal possibilities
forgotten is the piano, the cello
my two lifetime friends of sound --
what's that about not being a driploof
abandoning all that I once knew
to write
poetry?

elsewhere I would never have
found compelling allies
to battle between mother and son
a masterpiece of community work
thensowhen I would never have
seen the dreams to create miracles
spin homage to country singers
pen photographs for
new friends, thanking their inspiration
for I would never have known you
singular or plural
who cry with me
when fairy tales turn wicked
make me roll and phtoll in laugher
when squirrels talk to belching rodents
letting me express devil's gardens
shrinking successes or troubadour flattery
where elephants never need keys
and footbridges sing gaily in the sunshine

orphabilly?
no, I don't think so
for drinking from the bowl of silence
has also made me thirsty for rhyming words
less inventive, more traditional,
howevermore
in the midst of friends
who know that breaking free
flying high like a thousand paper birds
is the key which,
united in pen and paper quests,
opens all the doors
of the freedom to create
