First Light
A muse about dawn and night.

First Light

There is a time
in breaking dawn,
when birds will sing
their morning song.

The night has passed
and life is right,
in sunny beams
of dappled light.

When Nature brings
a brand new day,
all God's children
work and play.

Happiness grows
as spirits rise,
to higher heights
in clear blue skies.

It's laughter will
infect them all,
'til another night
again will call.

Then darkness creeps
into the heart,
'til breaking dawn
again will start.
