Punishment
I wrote this after I watched a man drown in the Missouri River

An image planted in my mind
A stain upon my heart
Someday I'm supposed to realize
"That you can't let it pull you apart!"

Floating there alive or dead
I didn't have the strength to find out.
He drowns daily in my mind
"Its not your fault you couldn't have done anything"
Well I have my doubts

Scared little girl to selfish to sacrafice for another
Your punishment will be grave
Memories never to cease
Images will never erase
Endless sleep without peace
Is what horrible guilt will replace

Worst of all... You're doing this all to yourself
