Winter Blues
A short poem written at the end of a long depressing winter.

Winter Blues

If only I could escape
winter's gloom,
fade beneath the surface
unnoticed, a perennial
reborn in Spring
welcomed back with gladness
tended to with eager hands
admired again,
or maybe not return at all
like a bulb too shallow
winter-killed.
